I really enjoyed the readings this week. I think that all of us go through trial and error when we are trying to figure ourselves out. When I put my schooling to the side so that I could work full time and have my husband go to school full time, it came easily. We never bickered or had a hard time deciding what I should do, because it just fell into our laps and felt like what we were supposed to do. I look back now and wonder if I was just lazy and wanted to ditch schooling, but I know that it happened for a reason. Now that Tanner (my husband) is almost done with Dental School, we are figuring out when to start a family, where to live permanently and semi-permanently, where to take jobs, etc. I think we will always go through the struggle of questions ourselves, and failing over and over, but that’s life and it’s a wonderful thing that we get to learn from.
§ Why do you think Randy Pausch was able to achieve so many of his childhood dreams? Randy seems like such a determined person. I really enjoyed listening to him talk because I could tell that he was a very driven human in the work force and with his family. I think that’s why he was able to and continues to achieve so many of his dreams.
§ Do you feel that dreaming is important? Why or why not? Of course, I do! Without setting goals and dreams for ourselves our lives would be very boring. Without dreaming we won’t get anywhere!
§ Discuss at least one of your childhood dreams. Explain why you believe you can or cannot achieve this dream. One of my childhood dreams has been to own an event company. Whether that’s just renting out furniture for events, or giving my expertise, I’m not sure yet, but I hope it will happen! I also really want to have a neighborhood ice cream shop with homemade flavors, and a place for our kids and their friends to work!
